Oh Baby!

The baby quote making the rounds:

Speaking about sex education at an event in Pennsylvania Saturday, Obama said, according to the Christian Broadcasting Network, that he will educate his young daughters but “if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby. I don’t want them punished with an STD at the age of 16.”

He’s not talking about just any daughters, teenagers, he was referring to his own daughters who will not have a typical upbringing, especially if he wins the White House. Something about wealth and privilege.

Since when is a baby a punishment? I always felt one was a blessing from God.

However, this will not hurt Obama, nothing has so far. Even after the Pastor Wright flap, he’s more popular than ever at least according to the latest Gallup poll.

Mancat Monday

Time for something kittycat to perk up the blog not that it doesn’t have plenty of kitty pics, this time Meowza. Guessing this could work for Tummy Tuesday but I have a bunch in the camera for that. Just a few minutes ago, Meowza went out but didn’t roll in it. I asked him, “Not going to roll in the dirt?” and he then proceeded to do just that. Such a sacrifice he made for me. He’s such a good kittycat.

WordPress 2.5

WordPress 2.5 is out and has been for some few hours now so guess I’ll be upgrading, slowly one site at a time to see what plugins work and what don’t and go from there.

Don’t want to drastically alter the look of the sites although that might not be a bad idea.

It has a built in gallery which just may solve the problem that Gallery had, that of breaking my site when I used it.

So I stopped using it.

2.5 has a host of other features, very desirable ones too. Much better Dashboard too, making that a more useful to me, got stats. I’ll be checking that more often.

Kindof like going from Tiger to Leopard in features both seen and hidden, stuff developers love. Stuff I’ll love like installing upgrades to plugins for me saving me the effort.

Guess I’ll be busy checking out this new spiffy version of WP.

Frustration Of Fatigue

It’s frustrating to deal with the fatigue of MS, keeping my eyes open when I’m just sitting there. Went out to a breakfast and was not quite nodding off but my head kept dropping. Said little too. I did enjoy myself thou. Went home and took a nap afterward. I don’t think I get enough sleep.

This afternoon I kept busy so I’d stay awake, busy petting them. Keefe, Meowza and Bazel all took turns getting an exclusive on the lap before Bazel and Keefe settled down to sleep on me. I think they do enjoy my spending more time with them.

And it eases the pain of missing Izzy. That and no cat pee. I can deal with that.

I do catch the news when laying with them. Nothing much interests me enough to blog about thou. I just want to go back to sleep. Bazel and Meowza are out catting around now. Good time to sleep.

Caturday

Another shot of Bazel cause he was just so cute. He’s eyeing the cell phone which sounds eventually bugged him so he lept off me. Probably should have put it in silent mode before taking the pics.

Bazel sort of cuddling with Keefe

This is the best ever announcement that Carnival of the Cats will be at their site. Gives an excellent overview of the history and reason for being for the eldest kitty carnival which I have particular fondness for as my kitties have been in it from the beginning. Hattip Lair. Other cat goodness Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos at Pet’s Garden Blog, the Friday Ark at the Modulator always and Weekend Cat Blogging at Catsynth. Enjoy.

Observations On Them

It’s been three and a half weeks since Izzy and Jezi left, three and a half weeks without cat pee sprayed all over the countertop appliances or countertop. Bazel prefers the sink which is why the sink is never empty so he can pee in it although he has craftily ignored the stuff and peed in it anyway on a couple of occasions. Clorox is my friend.

And Bazel has become a lapcat, here laying beside me cause Keefe was stretched out from the lap on down. I think he knows his days here are numbered. No word yet on another opening to get him in foster care thou. Might be a while unfortunately.

Wright Wrong

Wright keeps giving and giving… material for the media to play with.

A Christian publication called Baptist Messenger reported that the church published a pro-Hamas, anti-Israel opinion article in a church bulletin in July.

Pro-Hamas a known terrorist group, hard to imagine any reasonable person would be pro-Hamas. a left-wing demagogue maybe, but not a reasonable person.

In addition, Trumpet Newsmagazine, of which Wright is the chief executive officer, published an article written by Wright in which he described the crucifixion of Jesus as “public lynching Italian style.”

“(Jesus’) enemies had their opinion about Him,” Wright wrote in a eulogy of the late scholar Asa Hilliard in the November/December 2007 issue, according to CNSNews.com. “The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans.”

He sure doesn’t know his history, Jews had a part to do with it too. Unlike Wright, we don’t hold it against either Italians or Jews what their distant ancestors did. And what an insult. Wright just can’t get it right. Doesn’t want to either. He. Has. To. Inflame. Understand there’s hours worth of Wright sermons that are equally incendiary. And of course, Obama was asked about this and his response was typical.

“I’ve, I think, talked thoroughly about, you know, the issue with Rev. Wright. And, you know, everybody, I think, who examines the church that I attend knows that it is a very traditional, conventional church,” he said.

He said Wright had made some “troubling statements and some appalling statements that I have condemned.”

Very. Traditional. Conventional. Church. Not in my playbook. Firebrand preacher, extreme left-wing demagoguery, not conventional. Catholic Church very traditional and conventional. Baptist Church very traditional and conventional. I could go on but you get the point. How he can believe that is beyond belief. More troubling, it brings into question Obama’s judgement. Even more troubling, the Wright stuff doesn’t seem to have affected Obama’s popularity if the poll cited in the article is to be believed.

The March 19-22 survey of 1,503 American adults found that despite the flap, Illinois Sen. Obama had maintained a 49 percent to 39 percent advantage over New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Proof that people just don’t get it and/or the extreme left-wing has taken over the Democrats. If anyone wants to know where Obama stands on issues, should check out his voting record.

Musings On The Little Ones

She’s reached the age where when mommy leaves, she throws a temper tantrum, a good long temper tantrum. Maybe I’m a boring grandma or something. Smaller tantrums whenever I say no and sometimes she tries my patience by doing all the things she shouldn’t.

And if it isn’t the tantrum, it’s head banging or throwing stuff.

But she has the cutest, most mischievous grin when she’s about to do something naughty like grab my glasses.

My memory must be failing me but I don’t remember my child being like that. No terrible twos or anything. She was a wonderful, well behaved child.

Cats are easier to care for, they love laying on me and getting skritches, head butts, petted. Playing with them is fun too. They do love their mousies and catnip.

*sigh*

I think I’m getting old.

Ouch

The cost of my Copaxone went up again, now at $1934.05 for a 30 day supply. Good thing I have insurance, couldn’t afford it otherwise.

There is a gap between when COBRA runs out and Medicare kicks in unless Social Security approves my disability then coverage can continue. I get on Medicare sooner too. Once on Medicare with the dreaded Medicare part D prescription drug coverage, I have around $4000 that I will have to cover myself. Have to start saving now.

I sure hope the Palis, Hamas in particular, and Hezbollah don’t get in a war with Israel cause then the cost will skyrocket. It is an Israeli drug.

Typical

In the speech, Obama said:

“I can no more disown him (Rev. Jeremiah Wright) than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.”

Equating white grandma who said some things in private with a racist, anti-American preacher who espoused some extreme left-wing views to the public and had DVDs made of them. And to a radio interviewer, he said:

“She is extremely proud, and the point I was making was not that my grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person who, you know, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, there is a reaction that has been bred into our experiences that don’t go away and sometimes come out in the wrong way. … That’s the nature of race in our society … and we have to break through it. And what makes me optimistic is you see each generation feeling a little less like that, and that’s pretty powerful stuff.”

So, typical white people are racist. I would resent that if I were a typical white person. And he expects typical white people to vote for him? I guess if you don’t you’re racist. Or it is a typical thing to utter racial epithets. Unintentionally, without thought. But sermons aren’t without thought so that comparison with the pastor doesn’t wash.

I’m trying to decide which article expressed my feelings better, the one by Joseph Farah, where I got the above quotes, or the one by Barbara Simpson. Both are good. She brings up some very important questions, those being.

What would he do as president? How would he change things? What kind of judgment would he have in his appointments, legislative support, judicial appointments and foreign affairs dealings?

Where would his sympathies lie?

I wonder the same thing.

Happy Easter

The most important holiday for the Christian or should be as without the resurrection of Christ, we wouldn’t be able to be resurrected.

I like to think of the Savior healing the sick, blessing little children, teaching his followers, raising the dead, feeding the people. Far better image than that of a preacher damning America and all the other stuff Pastor Wright has said.

Anyway, it’s Easter and hope it was happy for everone.

I was so tired I’ve been sleeping most of the evening. Busy day.

So Tired

Grandbaby kept me up late last night, she’s adopted my kid’s schedule. Great for her but not so for me as I am usually up by 6AM. Yeah, I actually babysat for a few hours, bout fell asleep watching her too.

Then I spent the day at the shop getting needed maintenance done. Engine had been running rough, time for a tune-up, clean out the fuel injectors, that kind of stuff. I feel poor.

Spent the afternoon laying with kitties, always a nice activity, and listening to the news. Gee this Pastor Wright is getting a lot of airplay or rather reaction to him, Obama’s reaction, the race speech, reaction to that, unending bloviating on whether it will make a difference. Not for me, I vote Republican.

Like I said, laying with kitties is nice. Bazel didn’t lay with me thou today, he and Meowza got into a big fight earlier and Meowza had the tummy. Bazel has a good memory.

And as I got somewhat less that four hours sleep, going to bed early.

Mouthing Off Again

Bin Laden just can’t keep quiet now, sticking his nose in the Palestinian situation. That after commenting on the cartoons and the Pope yesterday. Took him long enough considering how long ago they caused a stir in the Muslim world.

Osama bin Laden lashed out Thursday at Palestinian peace negotiations with Israel and called for a holy war to liberate the Palestinian lands.

A day after a bin Laden audio on a militant Web site threatened Europeans, Al-Jazeera TV broadcast audio excerpts attributed to the al-Qaida leader that urge Palestinians to ignore political parties “mired in trickery of the blasphemous democracy” and to rely on armed might.

“Palestine cannot be retaken by negotiations and dialogue, but with fire and iron,” he said.

…Bin Laden added that Palestinians who are unable to fight in the “land of Al-Quds” — a Muslim reference to Jerusalem — should join the al-Qaida fight in Iraq.

Just what we don’t need, a holy war. And Hamas has been arming as has Hezbollah were they to join in the fray. Trying to muck up Iraq too. Doesn’t like the surge apparently. Cause it’s working. Course, who pays attention to what bin Laden wants? He releases tapes and nothing happens.

Roller Coaster Market

Last week stocks were up for 416 points only to sink in the next few days. Yesterday stocks were up 420 points only to sink again today. When the Fed acts the market reacts briefly.

Stocks pulled back Wednesday as investors paused a day after the market’s huge rally and digested better-than-expected results at Morgan Stanley that eased concerns about the investment banking sector. The Dow Jones industrials fell more than 100 points.

…But some profit-taking was to be expected a day after gains that saw the Dow Jones industrials shoot up 420 points. Investors sent stocks charging higher Tuesday on stronger-than-expected investment bank results and several moves from the Federal Reserve in recent days, including a 0.75 percentage point rate cut aimed at jump-starting the credit markets.

Volatility is in. Can’t expect the Fed to lower interest rates much longer as they don’t have much further they can lower them. Then what are they going to do? Economy is in a recession, might have to ride this one out. Course with more bank failures like Bear Stearns, could head into a full fledged depression. How depressing.

He Knew

OK, so Obama knew his pastor made controversial remarks. So then it should have come as no surprise then that Wright made very controversial remarks.

“Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely,” said Obama.

But he said the snippets of Wright’s sermons circulating on cable television and the Web in recent days do not tell the whole story about Wright.

“As imperfect as he may be, he has been like family to me. He strengthened my faith, officiated my wedding, and baptized my children,” Obama said.

Yet he had Wright serve on his campaign, that is until his sermons came to light.

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose sermons raging against the U.S. have sparked controversy, is no longer formally tied to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s campaign, an Obama spokesman said late yesterday.

He knew about the remarks before then but it took the news media getting a hold of them before he did something about it. Wonder what Wright will do informally or what he may do in the future administration were Obama to become President.

Obama said he wasn’t aware of Wright’s incendiary comments until he began running for president early last year.

Yet he still had Wright serve on the campaign knowing. That is telling.

Mancat Monday

Happy St. Patrick’s Day. And just for the day, the green theme plus one ferocious mancat, er loverboy mancat actually. And being a mancat, he doesn’t dress up for the occasion.

Digital Fingerprint and AntiLeech

My there are more blog RSS feed aggregators every day it seems. Searched on my Digital Fingerprint and came up with a few. More search results with Google when add in similar stuff omitted but they were the same few blog aggregators. However, Yahoo had more varied results. MSN had some Google missed although not so many but who uses MSN anyway?

Even caught a splogger in an approved comment that had swiped my feed. Got scrambled content too. Glad AntiLeech works. Deleted the comment. Why I went searching anyway this fine morning.

Tummy Time

Bazel got the tummy today, Keefe the legs. Lay there with the kitties for several hours while watching the latest on the Pastor flap.

One would think after twenty years of listening to a guy preach, he’d have a clue and not be all surprised and all at what the guy was preaching. Doubt it will have far reaching impact as it was covered by FoxNews not the MSM. Dems not likely to watch FoxNews.

Laying with kitties nicer.

Gifted Writer

I love this. This fellow has a gift for words.

Oil hit a record high, the dollar sank again, and consumers stopped buying pretty much everything.

Pretty much sums up everything. The economy is still bleak. $110.33 per barrel, think about that number, ever expect to see it so high?

The dollar dipped briefly below 100 yen for the first time in 12 years and fell to a new low against the euro.

And if the Fed cuts rates again, the dollar will dip even further. Happens every time.

Looking on the bright side, don’t really need to buy stuff do we? Aside from food and gasoline that is.

Hot Kitties

I spent the afternoon with Keefe sleeping on my legs as I lay stretched out on the sofa watching TV. Meowza and Bazel were sacked out on the cushions.

Later, I got up for a bit and, when I sat down, no TV this time to distract me, Meowza came up to me so I laid back and he lay on me. Now, normally he gets a little love then happily goes off to lay elsewhere but today, he lay on me for the longest time purring away.

Keefe came back and took his spot on my legs. The petting and purring continued. I was getting sleepy.

Then Bazel decided to get up on me. Finding no room at the top, Meowza had filled that, he went down by my ankles and lay on me there. He nipped at my socks, think it was love bites cause he didn’t draw blood. Either that or he just likes to chew. He settled in after that and just lay there.

After a while, Meowza and Keefe bailed leaving Bazel who wasn’t budging from his spot on my legs. Finally, I had to bail on Bazel as I was way too hot. Three kitties on me for the better part of an hour makes for a hot human.

I let them out after that, that was the tricky part as Cece was right there at the door wanting in. Didn’t get in thou. I’m getting better at this.
