Still Shocked
Rained all day, it poured soaking us church goers. Went to check to see how much on azcentral.com when I read the news - President Gordon B. Hinckley died.
Gordon B. Hinckley, the longest-serving president of the Mormon church who presided over one of the greatest periods of expansion in its history, died Sunday, a church spokesman said. He was 97.
Hinckley, the 15th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died because of complications from age and was surrounded by his family.
“His life was a true testament of service, and he had an abiding love for others,” said U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican and fellow Mormon. “His wit, wisdom, and exemplary leadership will be missed by not only members of our faith, but by people of all faiths throughout the world.”
How I can be so shocked when he was so old, I don’t know. He had so much life in him, didn’t let age stop him. He accomplished much during his tenure, more info here for those interested. Hmm, they failed to mention the church working together with Islamic relief agency after that tsunami. Even got along with Muslims unlike the current Pope who’s comments inflamed the easily inflamed. He’ll be missed. He was beloved by all that knew him or had the privilege of hearing him speak. I did hear him speak on a number of occasions. Beloved.
