Inspired by misplacing my cell this afternoon, I thought to do the Thursday Thirteen reasons why a land line ie non-cell phone is a good thing.
1. An advantage to keeping one’s land line as opposed to going strictly with a cell phone is that if one misplaces the cell, one can dial it and follow the sound to locate said cell phone.
2. And when the cell phone batteries die, one still has a functioning phone.
3. If the phone is low-tech, it will still work when the electricity goes out. Rare for both to go out. At the same time unless one has upgraded to digital service.
4. The bill is a lot smaller, a lot.
5. Unlimited calling irregardless of carrier.
6. If you don’t go out much, you can take most calls on the land line.
7. Land lines don’t cause auto accidents by distracting the driver.
8. The phones are more substantial with keys you can actually press the right ones.
9. Temptation to play with the phone is reduced as it can’t access the internet, play tunes, show pictures and movies, display maps, check email, IM people, play games, watch You Tube vids. It is just a phone.
10. Voice mail can be your option to do at home via properly equipped phone or via carrier which tends to result in getting said voice mail days later or not at all.
11. They are cheaper, in some cases hundreds of dollars cheaper than the latest, spiffiest phone .
12. They come in more styles and colors than cell phones.
13. Last, it is much harder to lose a big, bulky phone especially if it’s attached to the wall or has a cord.
