Too Cold

It’s been cold outside, freezing cold, too cold for kittycats to go outside except for a few minutes at a time. They are currently curled up on the sofa cushions, the sofa cushions whose covers I need to wash. Again.

Cat hair!

And all that dirt Meowza brings in.

Thinking, why do people think it’s too cold for an animal to go outside just cause the humans need to bundle up? Cats have fur coats. Ah, but their dainty little feet would get freezy cold walking on the hard, frozen ground.

Must pamper the kitties.

Weekend catting:

Typical

Dominating the news all day yesterday, the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Enough already, she was no saint. You’d think we’ll all go up in a nuclear holocaust now that she’s gone. Al Qaida doesn’t have the nuclear bombs… yet. It’s not a given.

There’s other news. Like the dignity with which the Muslims mourned her death.

Benazir Bhutto was laid to rest next to her father in the family mausoleum on Friday after the opposition leader’s assassination plunged Pakistan into crisis and triggered violent protests across her native Sindh province.

Tens of thousands of mourners wept and beat their heads as Bhutto, killed by a suicide attacker at an election rally on Thursday, was carried from her ancestral home in Sindh, in the south of the country, to the domed mausoleum.

And who did they blame?

“Shame on the killer Musharraf, shame on the killer U.S.,” mourners cried.

The usual suspects. Typical. Although it appears al Qaida did it. And what was the result of their mourning?

In Sindh, where Bhutto had huge popular support, particularly among the rural poor, officials said 24 people, including four policemen, were killed in protests.

…Hundreds of cars, trucks and buses smoldered in the interior of the province and crowds of men set up road blocks and chanted slogans against Musharraf.

The usual senseless destruction of life and property. Typical.
