Winning Hearts

We are winning, the surge is working. There is hope. One striking example is the photo by Michael Yon of Muslims and Christians erecting a cross atop a church. Accompanying his photo, Michael Yon writes:

The Iraqis asked me to convey a message of thanks to the American people. “Thank you, thank you,” the people were saying. One man said, “Thank you for peace.” Another man, a Muslim, said “All the people, all the people in Iraq, Muslim and Christian, is brother.” The men and women were holding bells, and for the first time in memory freedom rang over the ravaged land between two rivers.

To sum it up is Day by Day’s cartoon which incorporates Michael Yon’s historic photo. If you value his work, consider supporting him.

Day by Day with Michael Yon’s photo of Christians and Muslims working together

Good news is so wonderfully refreshing and not at all unexpected. Ordinary Muslims and Christians can get along just fine. even in a Muslim country. Bin Laden, Ahmadinejad and their ilk would have us think otherwise. Thanks Sissy for bringing this to my notice. Blue Crab Boulevard has lots more links. Seems the blogosphere is abuzz with this story er picture. I’m just beginning to read them. Even the New York Times ran a positive but unrelated piece about Iraq.

American forces have routed Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, the Iraqi militant network, from every neighborhood of Baghdad, a top American general said today, allowing American troops involved in the “surge” to depart as planned.

Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Fil Jr., commander of United States forces in Baghdad, also said that American troops had yet to clear some 13 percent of the city, including Sadr City and several other areas controlled by Shiite militias. But, he said, “there’s just no question” that violence had declined since a spike in June.

“Murder victims are down 80 percent from where they were at the peak,” and attacks involving improvised bombs are down 70 percent, he said.

Nice to have good news this Veterans Day. Yes, I know it was yesterday but I’m a little slow here. And the Dems still want to lose, silly people. Guess the good news somehow escaped them. Blame the MSM which is complicit in ignoring the good. We can’t quit now when we are winning.

Thanks for the nice link.

You will enjoy this Washington Times editorial about the big-time losers who won the 2006 elections:

Pelosi’s surrender date

Thanks, I like the part which states:

The contrast could hardly be any more striking: American soldiers perform heroically and successfully, risking their lives on the battlefield in Iraq. Mrs. Pelosi and the Democratic leadership, by contrast, look for new ways to advertise American weakness to the enemy - - in effect, to tell al Qaeda in Mesopotamia that if it can hold out against U.S. forces for another year, “progressive” politicians in Washington will deliver the votes to ensure that Iraq becomes a jihadist colony.

So true unfortunately. Nice they noticed.
