AntiLeech

I am now using AntiLeech. Thank you Astrid for giving me the link to Lorelle who lists ways to stop content theft with links to useful info and plugins including this one.

Hopefully, I can stop those splogs from swiping my content. They are so irritating too.

Izzy

Since it’s raining out, pouring rain actually - a rarity here in the Phoenix area, it’s rather dark and gloomy. The kitties are all ensconced on the sofa and, little detail, I don’t have the camera, so here’s a pic of Meowza, oops  that’s Izzy, from a while back.

Meowza

And since it’s Friday, it’s time to board the Ark although I don’t think it will rain that much. I look forward to the sun and Izzy going out. Earlier, Bazel got on the sofa, went to sit in his spot then I heard hissing and Bazel ran off to the other end of the sofa. I just knew Izzy had done the hissing. Mr Terrortorial he is. Not seeing him, I looked behind the sofa and there he was. I gave him a look and he ran off.

Nice People Not

Remember the teacher that was sentenced to fifteen days in jail for the teddy bear incident. Get this.

Thousands of protesters wielding clubs and knives today gathered outside the Sudanese presidential palace calling for execution by firing squad of the British teacher who let her students name a teddy bear Muhammad.

Just your typical Muslim here not some radical Islamist. Such a peaceful people. And Muhammad is a common name too in Sudan.

Wonder what they would do if it had been a pig instead of a teddy bear.

Changes

Thanks to the swiped RSS feeds and associated trackback spam, I’ve made a couple changes, first added a plugin that inserted a little notice in the RSS feed which states.

Copyright © 2007 Mind of Mog. This Feed is for personal non-commercial use only. If you are not reading this material in your news aggregator, the site you are looking at is guilty of copyright infringement. Please contact legal@mindofmog.net so we can take legal action immediately.

Not that that will do much as most of the sites ripping my RSS feed don’t include the whole feed so it won’t show. And the last post got ripped by four sites, all with trackback spam. So for now I have disabled trackbacks. Hopefully, that will stop the trackbacks from showing. Sad cause legit trackbacks won’t show either. I don’t know how to stop them swiping the feed. Anyone got a better idea?

Can’t understand it either. This blog is barely a blip in the blogosphere so why target it?

No Facebook For Me

Just read where Facebook has, without notifying users, added this feature Beacon which posts one’s activities elsewhere without one’s consent. After users complained, Facebook allowed opting out… of parts of it. Has to be done site by site - quickly - or the option goes bye bye . Would have been nice if Beacon was opt in instead of finding out what one purchased online has been posted for the world to see. If a site pulled that crap on me, I would document it, leave natch, and contact EFF.

Note: I don’t use either Facebook or MySpace. More I read about them the less interested I become. And I had zero interest to start with. Peeps get enough info on me from my blog. My cookies. My Google searches. Although I’m not sure how useful the info Google collects as I use Google to spell check.

Typical Hamas And Peres

Did I not say Hamas wouldn’t go along with Annapolis peace plan? I did. And indeed, if this is any indication.

Hamas on Thursday called on the UN to rescind the 1947 decision to partition Palestine into two states, one for Jews and one for Arabs.

The group said in a statement, released on the 60th anniversary of the UN vote, that “Palestine is Arab Islamic land, from the river to the sea, including Jerusalem… there is no room in it for the Jews.”

Regarding the partition decision, Hamas said that “correcting mistakes is nothing to be ashamed of, but prolonging it is exploitation.”

One need only remember that the Palestinian people voted (in a democratic election no less) Hamas into power. Get what you pay for.

And unless Hamas is marginalized there is no way any peace agreement will be reached and stand a chance of succeeding. And chances of that happening are somewhere between fat chance and no chance in hell.

And Peres is still an idiot.

Meanwhile, President Shimon Peres told Army Radio that recognition of the 1967 borders began with the Oslo accords.

That would be acceptable IMHO if the borders after the Six Day War were used. Not before.

Wordless Wednesday

Annapolis

So they all got together, Olmert and all Israel’s enemies and decided conveniently to conclude an agreement by election time. Timing. Is. Everything.

“In furtherance of the goal of two states, Israel and Palestine, living side-by-side in peace and security, we agree to immediately launch good-faith bilateral negotiations in order to conclude a peace treaty, resolving all outstanding issues, including all core issues without exception, as specified in previous agreements,” Bush read from the statement.

The two sides - according to the statement - agree “to engage in vigorous, ongoing and continuous negotiations, and shall make every effort to conclude an agreement before the end of 2008.”

But nothing was decided at Annapolis, just speeches given, not going to start the negotiations until December 12. Back in the Middle East is where the compromises will be made, deals struck. And broken. Of course, I expect nothing will change. Terrorism will continue to be the Palestinian way. It’s a given Hamas will never go for it. The outcome of all these peace negotiations will be the same as previous peace negotiations. So unnewsworthy is this that it didn’t even make the front page at CNN.com although they did cover it.

That’s Dismal

Talk of a recession, most dire prediction at least in that article.

Others are more direct. Nouriel Roubini, an economics professor at New York University who has been predicting the collapse of the housing bubble for years, wrote recently that not only is a recession inevitable, he also sees “the risk of a severe and worsening liquidity and credit crunch leading to a generalized meltdown of the financial system of a severity and magnitude like we have never observed before.”

Now that would be interesting to see. And as usual, the Dow tanked again. Guessing Friday’s holiday shopping hasn’t affected the stock market any. Stocks I follow, note the one in green.

only positive Apple

Interesting tidbit, the dollar hit an all-time low Friday against the euro. Today’s supposed to be the big shopping day online, Cyber Monday. Will be interesting to see how sales add up and if that will positively affect the stock market. I haven’t bought anything. Been busy doing dishes and laundry. And watching the cats all curled up together on the sofa. They look so sweet. But aren’t of course. They be bad kittycats.

Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos #20

Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos

Welcome to the 20th edition of bad kitty cats festival of chaos hosted today by me Izzy cause Cece has been getting too much face time. Thanks Kashim and Othello for the graphic.

Izzy whiskers and ears and tummy
“Hey, there’s whiskers and an ear here.”

Will Ya Look at That! That kitty shows unusual interest here in what’s going on.

How undignified, cats talking like humans. Must. Meow.

This is so demeaning, a cat doing dog tricks. It’s the humans that are supposed to obey our commands.

That is one big cat, that King Cheetah. One. Big. Cat. Could eat Jezi in one bite. Hey Jezi!

From the big to the little nekkid cat. What’s Fruitbat Friday? That’s the kitty for Mog. She’s allergic to us.

After Thanksgiving Hangover sure looks like the right proper way to enjoy a lap. Tummy!

Mancat must test furniture, so thoughtful! Make sure there’s plenty of fur on it.

Reading the LOL Cat Bible, properly translated. And most exciting, you can see Zed Monster of the Bad Kitty Cats ask for forgiveness from Ceiling Cat after last week’s reading!

This weekend kicks off Artsy Catsy’s fundraiser to benefit the Cat Blogosphere and the Rescue Farm. Come see all the Christmas kitty glitter & pooch pizazz … and holiday bling for the beans, too!

How a cat is a Turkey Club is explained I think. I think I’ll just eat the turkey.

Riot roars the perfect theme shot. Mog loves the mouth shots.

Poor Luna, her ‘beans are away for Thanksgiving, a very long weekend away. Hopefully she got lots of love from her sitter.

Unbecoming but if it gets you what you want, go fo it, that being begging. Give the kitty what he wants.

What a thoughtful cat Victor is demonstrating proper grooming on his ‘bean.

Samantha and Tigger take their whiskers and ears quite literally.

Cece shows some fine whiskers and ears. Mog insisted on including him. Silly human. More better, a pic of mom. I sure miss her being around to torment.

mom
“Don’t mess with mom.”

Pepi demonstrates the high art of being Stupid. Didn’t know a cat could do that, did you?

Momma and Tuxxie look so sweet but watch out. And ouch. Sad tale ahead.

Kashim and Othello have the ultimate whisker and ears pics, such pretty kitties. Me jealous.

Willow shows off two fine ears and lots of whiskers.

Another ears and whiskers shot, this one a profile of a pretty orange kitty.

Pretty tuxie cat here one Bibs, AKA PeeWee. Maybe should introduce him to Cece. They’d go well together.

That concludes this edition. Next weeks BKCFoC is at the Pet and the Bengal Brats.

Blogging Will Be Light Today

Cause I’ve been busy. Cleaned out the kitchen cabinets, threw out lots of food that was too old or unidentifiable, definitely too old. Washed lots and lots of dishes. And no cat pee on the appliances or counter. Life is good.

Now it’s on to cleaning out the computer. Lots of old files to delete. And getting ready for the Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos which is here this weekend. Submit here. Optional Theme - Whiskers Or Ears

Cece

And then there’s the Carnival of the Cats at Begin Each Day As If It Were on Purpose This, That & The Other Thing, the Friday Ark at the Modulator always and Weekend Cat Blogging at House of the (Mostly) Black Cats to enjoy.

Just spoiled the little monsters, “wild salmon florentine in a delicate sauce with garden greens” from Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys which I wouldn’t have gotten if I didn’t have a coupon. Brought the price down to what regular Fancy Feast costs. And then there are the cat treats, Whisker Lickin’s, which I get with coupons for free. Good thing they like them. They don’t like all kitty treats, finicky cats.

Black Friday

I don’t have any plans to go shopping today. Too many people. Sides, I was busy. Meowza brought his little friend with him today. I’d have pics except Jill borrowed my camera again. Seems their memory card is full and they haven’t bought another and there are pics on my camera from the baby shower they wanted. They didn’t erase their camera’s memory card cause they can’t print from the computer. Something about incompatible printer drivers or something. Software crashes Vista. So a pic from the 19th.

neighbor cat

Kitty came in the house too. Didn’t get on the sofa. Bazel was there. But he did get up on the counter and let me pet him. Guessing he’s not feral as he didn’t shred me or anything, quite tame actually. He’s not as soft as Bazel thou. I did finally pick him up and escorted him outside. Kitties didn’t even create a fuss over him being inside. Not even Izzy who is usually very terrortorial about his everything.

Update: Found out his name is Cece (pronounced Cēcē) and is a member of Oliver’s family. Remember Oliver the big orange cat that visits occasionally, yes that cat, lives across the street. And vet doesn’t know why he limps.

Weekend catting:

Going Down

Quoting from the Dreamhost status blog.

Due to space and power constraints in our primary datacenter we are moving the entire shared cluster “spacey” to our LAX facility at 10:00PM PST (GMT - 8), two weeks from today, Friday, November 30th 2007. All webservers, mail servers, file servers, and MySQL servers in the spacey cluster will be unreachable during the move, which we expect to take approximately 8 hours.

I think that includes my blog so I may be down next friday.

Thanksgiving Thursday Thirteen

Thursday thirteen, Thanksgiving style. Stuff I am thankful for. Obviously.

I really had little invested in the stock market so despite it’s continued tankage, I lost little.

Inversely, the price of oil keeps going up and up. As does the price of gas. Happily, I don’t have to go much of anywhere.

Despite the best efforts of P.M. Olmert, Israel is still there.

As is the United States. The American Union is not yet nor will it ever be if the people have any say in the matter. Especially the Canadians who don’t particularly like the U.S. so I’m told. Plus they are very PC and close to dhimmification. Wouldn’t work.

Christianity has not been outlawed and won’t be (better not) nor has Islam become the religion of compulsion in the U.S.. That’s so not happening.

Iran does not yet have nukes.

Neither does al Qaida thanks to Musharraf. We owe him. Or do we?

Neither does Syria. We owe Israel.

The kittycats are all healthy unlike this lot. Warning: extremely upsetting graphics. Hattip Kashim.

I have only six furry meows to feed. Do I hear five? Anyone want five? I’ll keep Meowza.

Friend brought me Thanksgiving dinner. Doubt she knew my oven had died. I figured it was a lost cause to get someone out to fix it yesterday so it remains unfixed til at least next week.

I have a life. I actually get to do stuff like go out to dinner, go to parties, do good stuff, actually help others. When I worked, I had little time for any of this. I get to enjoy the many wonderful things life has to offer, MS not being one of them.

My freedom to which I owe our troops a deep debt of gratitude. They rock.

More Post Swiping

Thankfully, I’m only getting one or two a day. I couldn’t handle a huge amount. Sites swiping my RSS feed, crediting someone else and sending trackback spam.

I doubt I would ever get any linkage as a result of getting featured. More like they would get traffic from their trackback as recent comments are featured. If they only knew what a waste of time it was.

I delete. The trackbacks. Doubt I could get any of them to delete the posts. Wonder if they have a person in charge or if they run some automated script.

And so far they have been all WordPress blogs. Some even using a theme sides the classic (but extremely dull) one.

Cats And Dogs

I had indicated my faves for Catster’s Best of Show. Thought to share my runners up to show what a tough decision it was and to share these cuties. First up, Abby who, in this shot, reminds me of Babe and Tiny and also Kashim and Othello. Cute siblings.

Please help Abby win Best in Show at Catster.com

And then there’s Tiki who looks like he could be about to dip his paw in a koi pond. Such a beautiful cat too. Just. Want. To. Pet.

And on the doggie side, Sitka showing dog slobber isn’t all bad. Maybe. Ice cream’s pretty good too. Sides, I like tongue shots.

Captivating me with her winning smile, Abby Grace. What’s not to love? Well, she is a dog. But as dogs go, she’s pretty cute.

Approval Not!

Reuters/Zogby Index is a fairly new measure of how the country is perceived to fare. It’s probably a good measure of how we’re doing. While most of the polling is on the downward trend, there is one positive.

Congress’ approval rating is holding steady at 11%.

Absolutely dismal for the Democrats, no? Comeon, are people going to keep them in power if they can’t produce? They can’t blame Bush for their failures. Or can they? They blame everything else on Bush.

They’ll blame Bush. So much for good news.

Oh wait! Bush’s approval rating went up, now at 28%. OK, two positives. Dems are going to love this.

Outside In WOG

Unlike my kitties who fare quite well on the outside (no pee on the counters), teenagers fare quite poorly outside… on the streets outside. KT Cat is one industrious feline finding good inside places to help them. Outside In is a charity that helps homeless teens reclaim their lives. Now if only someone would claim my kitties. Adopt one please. Bazel. Has. To. Go.

Wordless Wednesday

No I’m not going to show my tummy.

Tummy Tuesday #69

It’s that time again, Tummy Tuesday. Lisa Violet and I got discreet tummy shots. Cat was rolling but I wasn’t quick enough with the camera. You can see a wee bit of tummy there.

iPhone Home

So the iPhone can send an ID back to Apple reports CNNMoney.

The brouhaha started Friday, with a posting on the Hackintosh online forum of a line of software found in iPhone features for gathering financial and weather information.

According to those who have seen the code, it is used to report back a unique identifying number assigned to every iPhone.

With that information in hand, any number of scenarios are possible, from Apple knowing what software program the phone is using, to hunting down and shutting off rogue iPhones that have been unlocked, and thus can work on any phone network.

How’s this scenario - Apple needs to tie one particular iPhone with AT&T’s assigned phone number since activation is via iTunes.

Moreover, how is that any different from T-mobile knowing every call, text and picture message I make on my cell? And probably monitors, can monitor, the more advanced features Jill uses on her Blackberry. I get a very lengthly bill as Jill uses it way more than I do. AT&T has that data on their users too. I don’t know if having a number is sufficient to know what software is installed or if it is unlocked. It’s probably much ado about nothing.

Upon further reflection, WWMSD (what would Microsoft do)?

Sinking

Going down yet again, the Dow. Why am I not surprised? Been happening every few days of late.

The Dow was down 206 points at 19,971, with 25 of 30 components contributing to losses. The index had been down as much as 220.16 points at its intraday low of 12,956.33, which was the lowest price seen since Aug. 17.

At its intraday low, the Dow had lost 1,241.77 points, or 8.7%, since reaching an all-time high of 14,198.10 in intraday trading on Oct. 11.

Goes up and down like a yo-yo. Not to worry much unless it continues going down. Kindof like cat pee on the bread machine. Some days there is pee, some no pee, and on one fateful day there was not just a little but a lot on everything on the kitchen counter, enough to put the human in a tailspin. So if the Dow takes a massive, really massive dive, it will be like having all your appliances covered with cat pee. And lots of humans will be in a tailspin.

The Visitor

Noticed that the neighbor cat was outside when I was taking out the trash so I grabbed the camera natch. Here he is outside.

neighbor cat

Inside, yes he went in the house, checking out the litter pan. He did not go in it.

checking out the litter pan

He next got on their sofa. Other cats cleared off.

on the sofa

Then I found him on the counter. I was amazed that he could get up there as he was still limping.

on the counter

He wasn’t leaving and I did want to close the door. Amazingly enough, none of the other cats so much as hissed at him. Finally, I asked Bazel to get him out. Bazel then went up to the kitty, said something in kittyspeak, not loud mind you, and the cat walked out. I was amazed. Didn’t stop me from taking pics thou.

Trackback Spam

It annoys me to have sites lift my posts, link mine or not, send trackback spam, and credit someone else. They don’t even get the site name correct. Don’t even try most likely. Especially since the sites in question are ad farms. Least they are in Safari. Never see the ads in Camino.

I have adjusted Spam Karma’s settings up a few notches. Might moderate legit stuff so I’ll have to monitor it closely.

Any way to stop sites from lifting one’s posts? myLot isn’t the only ad-filled site that lifts posts. They flat out framed the site. Guessing they or someone on the site subscribed to the RSS feed. Last I checked it was five someones. I don’t mind people adding it to their RSS readers just don’t like all the ads without the revenue. If I wanted ads, I’d have put them on the site.

And the sites that are lifting posts and creating trackback spam are badly designed ad farms and have no real content. It’s as if they had some spider crawling the web for a related word then lifting the post that contained the word. Irritating.

Peed Off

Saw something yellow this morning on the counter. Upon further inspection I found the bread machine and toaster had been hit. Even got the bottle of Clorox cleaner. Cleaned that up.

Went to church.

Came home, fed the little monsters and noticed more yellow. This time the blender and air purifier had been hit. Cleaned that up best I could. Ever try cleaning the pee out of an air purifier? Not easy. Checked a Dobie pad that had fallen in the sink. Yep, reeks of cat pee. Toss that.

Damn cat pee. Those be very bad kittycats.

Note the litter was clean. The kitchen now reeks of Clorox and I’m ready to take them all to the Humane Society. Unfortunately, only two at a time as I only have two cat carriers.

They may be cute but they’ve ruined everything and I think I just found my breaking point.

One Year Old Today

So how does one celebrate a baby’s birthday? With two cakes, one for her and one for everyone else, brilliant idea. Cake makes a very messy finger-food. She did take a swipe at the other cake thou. Gotta be fast with the little ones.

Note: She was changed into a cake-safe outfit for this part of the party.

Rae eating her birthday cake

And a good time was had by all. No crying babies or children even. They did it up right. Opened gifts first, filled the kids with sugar then sent them on their way to bounce off the walls when they get home. Kids were too young for games so didn’t have to worry about that.

Caturday

Five little beasties and only two clean, that be Jezi and Keefe who won’t go outside. Don’t know which is worse, staying in or bringing in dirt. I think staying in cause they trash the place when they’re all in. Anyway, Bazel does. On purpose. They’re adoptable. Especially Bazel. Anyone?

Jezi, Keefe, Bazel, Meowza and Izzy on the sofa

Weekend catting, where the good and bad kittycats are:

Tough Vote

It was a tough decision picking out a Best of Show over at Catster. Lots of people will vote so no kittycat or dog is a shoe in. People are allowed to plug their faves so here goes. Alex is too cute, couldn’t resist.

Please help Alex Finnegan
Please help Alex Finnegan “Finney” win Best in Show at Catster!

The fact they had a category tongue/slobber for dogs is telling. I hate dog slobber but I do like a dog with good taste and that be Blue, surrounded by cute guys, soldiers in Iraq serving their country. Way to go!

Please help Blue win Best in Show at Dogster.com
Please help Blue win Best in Show at Dogster!

I may post my other faves at some time. Might give one of them a chance but with my lack of readership, doubt it.

Grey Day

Clouds, little lightning, little rain er just enough to get my car all dirty. Need. To. Wash. Car. But looking on the bright side…

rainbow

There was a rainbow at the end of the gloom. Today was better day, sunny with just a touch of parfum de cat pee wafting thru the house, couldn’t pinpoint where the little monster did the deed this time. No new kittycat pics taken. Still mad at Keefe for snagging my sweater while I was watching McDreamy last night.
