Oppressed It Is

Was reading on Wikipedia cause I was tired and wanted to make sure I spelled everything correctly and this caught my eye.

Until the late 1980s, the term Moslem was commonly used. Muslims do not recommend this spelling because it is often pronounced “mawzlem” /mɒzlɛm/ which sounds somewhat similar to an Arabic word for “oppressed” (Za’lem in Arabic). The word is pronounced /muslem/ in Arabic, but often /mʊślɪm/ in English. The word is now most commonly written “Muslim”.

But oppressed fits so well. :)

Just ask the ladies.

Too, one must refer to a religious/ethnic/racial group by the preferred name lest one be guilty of a hate crime (depending on country).

Bush To Appoint Khalilzad

Now this is just peachy. Bush is set to appoint Zalmay Khalilzad to be the new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

A Muslim.

Let that sink in a little.

Who is it we are fighting? Islamic extremists. Who wants the whole world to become Islamic? The mullahs, imams and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Who wants to live under sharia? Muslims in other countries like Britian.

Another Harriet Miers moment fast approaches.

Bias Is Showing

Taking time for silliness, I checked out the prior polls at WND and found this telling choice in the “What do you think about Mitt Romney for president?” poll.

His belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bothers me

Evangelical Christians aren’t the most tolerant of other religions, ok they are more tolerant than Muslims (in their own countries, ex: Saudi Arabia). Some even rival Muslims. Reminds me of the flap when JFK ran for President being as he was Catholic. What difference does it make (aside from the Islam thing - 9/11 and all) if a candidate professes faith (especially at election time) or not?

Personally I don’t care if the next President is Christian, Jew, Hindu, Buddist, Mormon, agnostic, just don’t care (some people are not religious), gay, female, black.

As long as he/she upholds the Constitution of the United States. That’s what counts. Oh and is not Hillary Clinton.

Pleeeeeeeeeease!

Personally, I’d love to see a Jew as President, one that supports Israel’s right to exist without having to carve it up making it indefensible. Now that would be most welcome.

Knitting Stuff

Been doing stuff today. Learned how to knit a hat, baby size. Comes in handy as I’m a grandma… Then again, grandbaby has several hats, tons of clothes too.

Might not need another hat.

Turned on the TV and to my dismay it was Pelosi, Pelosi family, Pelosi everything. Turned it off.

Set to cleaning the kitchen and dining area, meaning finding all the little pieces of Jill’s unicorn collection that Meowza destroyed.

Tongue ‘n Toes Thursday #3

Delayed due to hospitalization, Meowza’s best lick from that phoney shoot.

Friday Ark is tomorrow. And the Carnival of the Cats will be at Leslie’s Omnibus next Sunday.
