The Cat And The Plant

For the Friday Ark, one kitty who rules them all from her lofty perch by the plant she is not supposed to chew up like she did the last one. Doesn’t she look sweet?

The Carnival of the Cats will be here Sunday probably early cause I have to work. They changed my schedule on me.

Out Appleing Apple

Microsoft is coming out with a it’s own better than iPod and iTunes music service and device aimed at taking market share from Apple. Like the field of Windows MP3 players needs another, especially one wedded to the OS. Napster, et al will be equally pleased that Microsoft is entering their territory.

Wonder how much better the DRM will be.

Mind you, the world is still waiting for Vista which may finally provide some competition to OS X. Maybe. Considering how speedy Microsoft is in getting things out, Jobs won’t be losing any sleep over it. OK, some bucks cause Apple stock dipped on that news. Like Microsoft actually makes quality products. If you have a fondness for blue, maybe it could be argued that it does.

Apple has more to worry about if relations with China go sour (like over Iran), it’s iPods, iBooks, iMacs and probably MacBooks are assembled there. Most laptops are.

I wonder what companies would do if they had to pay a decent wage to the people making their products. The factory workers in China don’t make enough to buy food nevermind iPods. Workers living in crappy dormitories, underfed, overworked, underpaid while CEOs make billions, something’s not right. OK, there’s one CEO that decided to make a difference in a good way.

What brought this on? I had been napping, dreaming that I had a black MacBook. Odd I should dream that.
