Finally About Time

They pronounced Arafat. On FoxNews, no url yet.

Update: Reuters has it as does Al Jazeera. FoxNews said he died about 4:30AM local time (Paris, France). So they took a couple hours to tell people.

Seventy Percent

According to this ABC News report.

FALLUJAH, Iraq Nov 10, 2004 — U.S. forces cornered insurgents Wednesday in a small pockets of Fallujah after a stunningly swift advance that seized control of 70 percent of the militant stronghold. An Iraqi general said troops found “hostage slaughterhouses” where foreign captives had been killed.

The abandoned houses in northern Fallujah had hostages’ documents, CDs showing captives being killed, and black clothing worn by militants in videos, Maj. Gen. Abdul Qader Mohammed Jassem Mohan said.

But it appeared troops did not find any of the at least nine foreigners still in kidnappers’ hands including two Americans. “We have found hostage slaughterhouses in Fallujah that were used by these people,” Mohan said. But he said he did not know which hostages’ documents were uncovered.

The speed of the U.S. drive in Fallujah may indicate that most Sunni fighters and their leaders abandoned the city before the offensive and moved elsewhere to carry on the fight, U.S. officers said. The most notorious kidnapper, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, is believed to have fled the city.

There is good and bad in that, good we can secure the city sooner, bad in that the insurgents/terrorists are still at large.

Maj. Francis Piccoli, of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force led by Sattler, said U.S. forces now control 70 percent of the city. At least 71 militants have been killed by early Wednesday, the third day of intense urban combat, the military said. As of Tuesday night, 10 U.S. troops and two members of the Iraqi security forces had been killed. Marine reports Wednesday said 25 American troops and 16 Iraqi soldiers were wounded.

Kindof reminds me of when the US Troops went into Iraq so long ago. Worked speedy, speedier than they did last April.

The U.S. advance in Fallujah was more rapid than in an offensive in April, when insurgents fought a force of fewer than 2,000 Marines to a standstill in a three-week siege. This time, the U.S. military has sent up to 15,000 U.S. and Iraqi troops into the battle, backed by tanks, artillery and attack aircraft.

It pays to have sufficient force to do the job. And the go ahead, can’t effectively do anything if you have to try to negotiate with terrorists.

Cleaning Aids

Don’t have to worry about dusting the table as I have these handy automatic dusting machines covered with real fur, making them very soft, less likely to scratch the furniture. They do an excellent job of keeping the table clear of dust and just about everything else. Now if I can just figure out how they are knocking the books out of the bookcase. Must be a defect somewhere, maybe need a product recall here. Must contact tech support.

Even More Fun

I am using Firefox 1.0 with my favorite theme, Pinball. Now I haven’t gone all out like Zygote did when he redesigned his site. He used the Kubrick theme and customized it rather nicely.

And since Firefox has much better navigation than Camino, I’ll be using it more now that it looks better.

Update: Well on the G5, had a bit of trouble getting it themed on the iBook, can’t download themes in Firefox cause when I try, all I get is code in the browser window, doesn’t download. And the Mozilla site is terribly slow installing them. So I added all of one theme, yep Pinball, will stick with that one.

Kitty Fun

Hunny Hive had taken this quiz and since it involved cats, I had to take it. Hmm, see she’s no longer using WordPress, so I recategorized her blog. Must pay more attention to such stuff.

It's all about class, my dear.

Aristocat! You’re a sophisticated cat, proud to hold your head up high even when somebody ruins your day. You do have your bad hairball days, but instead of freaking out over something, you’d much rather take it in stride and move on.

What kind of cat are you?

Hostage Slaughter Houses

Found in Fallujah. From the Boston Globe cause that’s what came up first in Google, is this news.

“We have found hostage slaughter houses in Fallujah that were used by these people (kidnappers) and the black clothing that they used to wear to identify themselves, hundreds of CDs and whole records with names of hostages,” the general said at a military camp near Fallujah.

These insurgents aren’t nice people and need to be cleaned out, disposed of, killed, whatever works.

Telling

Were I to do a screencap of the open tabs, one would see This Blog Is Full Of Crap, The Dead Pool, and Arafat Is Full Of Crap. One would think I was waiting for Arafat to be declared dead. Apparently, it is against Islamic law to take him off life support. I was unaware that Mohammed knew about such things when he wrote the Koran. Perhaps they could test for brain death, after all brain dead is still dead so it wouldn’t be against their laws to disconnect the dead.

Silly people.

Still, can’t stay on life support forever if one is dead. Stuff will fail.

Ten.Three.Six

Or 10.3.6, upgraded both the iBook and iMac to the latest version of OS X and got the warning Saft doesn’t work with this version of Safari and did I want to try it anyway. I did and, surprise, it works. Tried a couple different skins in Shape Shifter too. That was the extent of what I did yesterday cause I was so sleepy. Think I slept some 16 hours.

I’ll try to be more ambitious today. Already, I edited wp-comments-post.php so peeps can’t comment as often in the hopes that will slow down the spammer. Mind you all the spam is held for moderation but still get a lot I need to delete. It would be nice if the spam were automatically deleted without being held for moderation. Wishful thinking.
