Right To Know

Although I doubt France has HIPPA, the line between one’s right to privacy, in this case Suha’s resistance to releasing medical information about her husband, Yassar Arafat, and the right for others to know, in this case the Palestinian government needing said information, becomes blurred when the rights of others present compelling reasons to know, in this case the possibility of said government dissolving into anarchy and chaos. Case in point, this appointment.

According to reports from unnamed sources, all of which were denied by Minister Durka at the press conference, The Ministry of Denial was formed by Achmed Queri and Mahmoud Abbas after they agreed that there needed to be a central authority from which Palestinian denials were issued. Both were concerned about a lack of credibility of their joint temporary administration due to a wide range of conflicting press reports and denials from various sources within their administration.

By centralizing the denial process, they are hoping to restore credibility in their authority, which will be crucial when Palestinian Authority and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat is officially declared deceased.

Obviously, something needs to be done quickly as the situation is deteriorating quickly. The Palestinians need to know.

Hat tip Lair of course.

Acts Of God

Has the New York Times joinied the Guardian in, allegedly, by inference, calling for the death of President Bush. Note the Guardian issued a retraction. Thanks to Dean, I read this analysis of a NYT article a small portion is quoted here.

Now, with George W. Bush’s re-election, God and a newly triumphant Republican president are once again in the headlines. And there are signs that the present national divide, between the narrow but solid Republican majority and a Democratic party seemingly trapped in second place, may be hardening into a pattern that will persist for years to come.

Democrats, especially, are left to wonder: What will it take to break the pattern - an act of God?

History suggests several possibilities for a major reshaping event - a national calamity, a deep schism in the ruling party, the implosion of a social movement under the excesses of its own agenda or the emergence of an extraordinary political figure.

Nowhere does he state that the needed act of God is an assassination although the two examples cited, Lincoln and McKinkey, were assassinated which does give pause for thought. Some moonbat could get the wrong idea. Of course, the act of God might be the implosion of the Liberal Left. Emergence of extraordinary political figure, no not Hillary, please. Reading on, he comes to this conclusion.

“The Republicans are basically unchecked,” Professor Wilentz said. “There is no check in the federal government and no check in the world. They have an unfettered playing field.”

Until the next act of God, that is.

Obviously the Democrats feel threatened but just possibly it is not the Republicans fault. It is their, the Democrats, fault they don’t connect with the American people. They feel threatened by the religious which they have tried for years to marginalize. And obviously, they feel threatened by the Republicans who have the majority in government. Now there is a lot more at play than just being religious, there is a whole raft of issues the Democrats don’t get.

Fitting Tribute

As our soldiers fight to provide the freedom for the people in Fallujah to vote in the upcoming election come January, it is fitting to pay them tribute. Michelle Malkin sums up far better than I did how some of us see this image as tribute to our President and troops that have died bringing freedom to Iraq.

EXACTLY. While American Leftist sees and intended his creation to be seen as Michael Moore does–as some sort of slam against Bush for causing the deaths of American soldiers–the image carries a radically different meaning for those of us who honor the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and who honor our newly-reelected leader of the free world for his decisiveness, conviction, and fortitude in pursuit of the common defense.

So, thanks, Michael Moore, for posting a moving tribute to our soldiers and to our president, who has demonstrated what it takes to stand up to evil abroad and hatred at home.

If ever there were an image that served as a poignant reminder that freedom is not free (something liberals like Moore adamantly refuse to grasp), this one is it.

I had commented back some time ago on this very image, which comment Michelle linked to. I did say a bit more at B4B on it. Others saw what I saw in the image. Maybe someone should thank Michael Moore. cause it just may have backfired on him.

It should be noted our troops are up against a lot. Again from Michelle is this Centcom update. Quoting in part:

CAMP RAMADI, Iraq - An Army unit assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force, discovered and defused an explosive-laden youth center in Ramadi Nov. 4, which was rigged by insurgents to detonate and potentially kill dozens of Iraqi children. They also discovered more than two tons of explosives hidden in a mosque.

…After a thorough investigation of the youth center, the Soldiers discovered that the explosives were rigged to detonate three ways: through a light switch, a remote control and by wiring that ran from the youth center to the nearby Al-Haq Mosque, where the unit discovered the firing mechanism.

At another mosque, a search yielded the discovery of more than two tons of ammunition, explosives, mortar systems and RPGs. Artillery rounds; assault rifles and various IED-making materials were found, as well. Fifty suspected insurgents were also detained during the sweep.

Mosques are granted protective status due to their religious and cultural significance. However, when insurgents violate the sanctity of the mosque by using the structure for military purposes, the site loses its protective status.

The insurgents were targeting children, Iraqi children, they are despicable and any doubt whether we should take them out should be dispelled by this finding. Becki at The Question Fairy said it best what many of us feel.

God, go with our Marines, and all our boys and girls overseas. They are the best of us, and we are not worthy of them. But since they have deemed us worthy of the blood they are shedding for us, let us do everything within our power to be worthy.

May we pray for and support our troops in this endeavor and may they find success quickly.
