Marry In Haste

Repent in leisure. Lair analyzes the impact of gay marriage on the elections. As he so eloquently put it:

You see, the whole thing started with the slew of high-profile gay marriages that happened in California, most of which resulted from the exploitation of sneaky back-door loophole bullshit in the law books instead of up-front rational discussion and debate of the issue for a reasonable and balanced solution. An equal and opposite knee-jerk reaction took place, so the governor and the courts shut that parade of prancing happy couples down, but not after the rest of Flyover Country reacted in shock.

Read the rest and you will understand. Can you say Conservative backlash? Sure, I knew you could. The gay marriage ban amendments passed in every state that had one on the ballots. Food for thought, no?

Bush Speaks

What I’ve been waiting for, then some much needed sleep. Much applause and chanting, music (Hail to the Chief) greets the President. “Four more years.” Dick Cheney speaks first, talks about carrying the message even to the Aloha state, says the V word. mentions gaining seats in the House and Senate, Bush getting “the greatest number of popular votes of any Presidential candidate in history.” Mike is acting up. Talks about Bush’s leadership qualities.

Now President Bush speaks “Thank you all…” “We had a long night and a great night. The voters turned out in record numbers and delivered an historic victory.” talks about Kerry, give them his best wishes. “America has spoken and I’m humbled by the trust and the confidence of my fellow citizens. With that trust comes a duty to serve all Americans and I will do my best to fulfill that duty every day as president.” He thanks family “Laura is the love of my life. I’m glad you love her too.” He thanks daughters, parents for their loving support, Cheney who has been a vital support to his team. “…proud to serve beside him.” Thanks team, supporters, thanks for their love, their prayers, getting out the vote. “Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers; pray for powers equal to your tasks.” “Our military has brought justice to the enemy, and honor to America. Our nation has defended itself, and served the freedom of all mankind. I’m proud to lead such an amazing country, and I’m proud to lead it forward.”

He talks about what he will do re tax code, Social Security, help democracies. “With good allies at our side, we will fight this war on terror with every resource of our national power so our children can live in freedom and in peace..” Speaks to those who voted for his opponent, need their support and will work for it. “…one country, one Constitution, one future that binds us.” Speaks to people of Texas, learned character of our country, “…sturdy and honest, and as hopeful as the break of day.” He ends with,”God bless you and may God bless America.”

Lots of enthusiasm, and they leave. Probably needs a nap as do I. Quotes may not be exact will correct after I get sleep.

Update: Couldn’t sleep so all fixed. Full speech is here.

Kerry Concedes

Listening to Kerry, gosh he’s a bore. Sorry, not impressed with his speaking style. He did ask for them to join together for national unity and find common ground. Quoting from WND:

“We talked about the danger of division in our country and the desperate need for unity, for common ground, coming together,” the senator said. “Today I hope that we can begin the healing.”

He’s going to fight on for the common cause. Does that mean he will actually show up for work in the Senate? Quoting from his site. cause it deserves remembering.

“But in an American election, there are no losers, because whether or not our candidates are successful, the next morning we all wake up as Americans. And that — that is the greatest privilege and the most remarkable good fortune that can come to us on earth.

With that gift also comes obligation. We are required now to work together for the good of our country. In the days ahead, we must find common cause. We must join in common effort without remorse or recrimination, without anger or rancor. America is in need of unity and longing for a larger measure of compassion.

I hope President Bush will advance those values in the coming years. I pledge to do my part to try to bridge the partisan divide. I know this is a difficult time for my supporters, but I ask them, all of you, to join me in doing that.”

He ends with a prayer, “God bless America.” Overall, conciliatory, nice.

Wictory Wednesday

Today is truly Wictory Wednesday, 58,615,674 votes for President Bush now on CSpan and they are still counting. Winning is sweet. Bush can accomplish lots more as expounded over at Tech Central Station by Stephen Green. Contributing to the success is Blogs For Bush and the Wictory Wednesday blogs. Making success even more sweet are the gains in Congress including one John Thune booting Tom Daschle. (more…)

Bush Won!

A popular vote landslide as compared with recent elections, some 3.5 million popular votes. 58,503,733 votes according to CSpan. Note the MSM won’t admit he won Ohio, New Mexico and Iowa with 286 electoral college votes. Gloating Vodkapundit, a must read list. And from FoxNews, report that Kerry has called President Bush to conceed. chug

Edwards Speaks

“…and we will fight for every vote.” Not conceeding anything.
