Carnival Of The Cats #32

Is up at When Cats Attack home of Kitty Survivor hosted by the Meowers of Death and they are so cute. I think I’ll be spending the rest of the day looking at catblogs - 60 of them thanks to that New York Times article.

Bazel

The next Carnival is here at Mind of Mog. Entries go to cats (at) isfullofcrap.com by Sunday November 7 at 18:00 CST.

Not Working

The Live Journal plugin gave errors when posting and I wasn’t even posting to Live Journal. So I disabled it and still get a whole bunch of custom fields listed on the post.php page. Weird. Mind you, that’s what I get for running beta software with plugins from a prior version of WordPress. I seem to have wiped out my staticize cache too. There’s a ton of plugins I haven’t even tried yet so I don’t know if they work or not.

Update: Realized links aren’t updating either. Waiting on a new nightly.

Nother Update: Realized skins work perfect now in Mozilla browsers but can’t change skins at all in Safari. Can’t find any cookie to delete to fix it either. Yeah, more people use Firefox than Safari but I use Safari. Scratch that - found the cookie under .www.mindofmog.net/ - all fixed.

Cat Fight

Lest Lair get too jealous that my cats all get along I am sharing these pics. It started on the bed where Psycho Cat and Bazel had previously been peacefully coexisting. Not sure of the trigger, it may have been Bazel climbing the curtains and taking a dive onto the bed.

Psycho and son

They continued their fight out into the hall beside an as yet unpacked aquarium.

Halloween

Had to do something for the holiday. So, a pic. Choose a black skin to be more Halloweenie that is unless I get on the stick and design one.

me

Update: I did using a pic I took of the door in the back bedroom which my kid’s friend so nicely decorated. It suits the holiday, no? Oh and I used the styleswitcher so no skins til I switch it back.

Lazy Me Finally Upgraded

To the 10-25 nightly, latest one there was. So far, stuff appears to be working.

Not Leukemia

The BBC reports Arafat does not have leukemia.

“The doctors exclude for the time being any possibility of leukaemia,” the Palestinian envoy to Paris, Leila Shahid, told reporters at the hospital on Saturday.

“There are other possibilities,” she added.

Mr Arafat’s general condition, both physically and psychologically, has improved since Friday, the spokeswoman said.

My guess, based only on the pictures I’ve seen and his rapid improvement since arriving in France, is that he’s suffering from “wanting to get out of Ramallah syndrome” so he can meet with foreign leaders and other potential supporters to rally them to his cause or just plain have a nice vacation in France. Hey, whatever works for him.

Weird Vibration

Laying in bed here, my foot felt like it was vibrating. It stopped and started a couple times. I was wondering what it was until I heard the familiar ring. I looked down to see the cell phone next to my foot and remembered I had set it to both vibrate and ring. Just had never felt that before. Which brings me to this, the Treo 650. Now that’s a phone I would like. Mine has AIM, but with only a 10 key pad, it is near impossible to type out an IM. This offers PDA convenience with a phone. Sweet. Oh, and expensive bout the same as an iPod Photo.

Even more weird, NetNewsWire 2.0b3 handled my skins perfectly whether I used mindofmog.net or www.mindofmog.net unlike Firefox and Camino which defaults to the previous skin when dropping the www. The weird part was when I hit reload in Safari, it changed to the skin I was using in NetNewsWire. I do like the new version of NetNewsWire thou.

Getting Out

Psycho Cat got out yesterday when I was taking out bags of used kitty litter. Smart little monster ran and hid under the van. So she stayed out til she wanted in. Sure hope she was done with being in heat. I can’t afford any more cats.

Who Approved This Message

Over at Blogs for Bush there is an excellent comparison between bin Laden’s videotaped message and the Democrats message. Read the quotes and see if you can figure out who said what. The similarity in the messages is eerie. Although I beg to differ, I do think at the end of bin Laden’s message, “I’m John Kerry and I approved this message.” would have fit perfectly.

Thinking is similar. How do you tell a terrorist from a Democrat if the message is the same?

Democrats are less violent.

Well, at least you don’t see Democrats trying to get WMD’s.

Coming Clean

Three days, twelve hours til the boys get snipped. On your back, that’s it, show what’s missing.

washing

Expect the boys to follow in Keefe’s footsteps, lots of licking wounds. Exercise that tongue.

washing

Gotta get those hard to reach spots. Keefe was just so cute here.

washing

Cat tongue, fodder for my camera.

Window Seat

Kid didn’t see why we needed a window seat so it sat in the box. I was supposed to return it but kept forgetting. So, she finally got the hint and put it in her room. Kitties like it.

Osama’s Against Bush

From AlJazeera is this message from Osama bin Laden:

He accused Bush of reacting slowly to the September 11 attacks, saying: “I never thought that the supreme leader would leave 50,000 of his people in the two towers to face the terrifying events alone at the time they were in need for him.”

Refering to next week’s elections, he told Americans: “Your security is not in the hands of (Democratic candidate John) Kerry or (President George W.) Bush or al-Qaida. Your security is in your own hands ….”

Like Bush could get them out of the towers? Timing is suspicious. Since he critisises Bush most specifically, it would appear to be timed to support Kerry. Too bad he isn’t dead thou.

Al Qaqaa

I’m having a hard time with that word cause each time I see it, I think of what the kitties leave on the carpet. Must clean litter pans.

Krissie washing herself, note the tongue

Anyway, to the point of this post. Powerline has the relevant post.

The last point is important: to date, the U.S. military has secured 400,000 tons of munitions in Iraq. At most, the Al Qaqaa explosives would represent less than 1/10 of 1% of the munitions that have been secured and, for the most part, destroyed. Let’s assume that the New York Times and John Kerry are correct, even though, as noted this morning, the Times has backed off their story and said they have no idea when the explosives left Al Qaqaa. Giving the Times and Kerry the benefit of the doubt, the American armed forces were more than 99.9% effective in securing Iraqi explosives. And this is what John Kerry calls “incompetence”? His grotesque insult to America’s troops should insure that he gets no votes next week from any military families, or from anyone who respects the American armed forces.

And this is the man people want as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, he’s an insult to everyone that ever served in the military. Ah but if it advances his chances to gain votes, he’ll say anything. Forget the facts, whih facts show that:

There is evidence that they were moved before the war began, with the collaboration of Russian special forces, and probably shipped to Syria. There are satellite photographs that corroborate such movements. As of April 4, 2003, the 3rd Infantry Division was in Al Qaqaa and discovered considerable quantities of munitions, but saw no sign of the 380 tons now, supposedly, in question.

So there. There is a bit more also from Powerline about Major Austin Pearson’s news conference, which conference I watched on FoxNews. The gist of it is our troops had removed some 200 tons of explosives shortly after we beat Saddam. Best to get the facts straight before using the explosives as ammo for getting elected. Thinking, since when did Kerry ever let facts get in the way when he saw an opportunity to attack Bush?

Tech Stuff

One of the things I like about WordPress 1.3 alpha is this line on the comment moderation page “Delete every comment marked “defer.” Warning: This can’t be undone.” Saves me editing the php file to automatically mark comments delete instead of defer. Cause I’ve been deleting lots, hit by a spammer today. Still need to update to the latest nightly. Been too busy playing with my G5.

Speaking of which I just watched the streaming video of Steve Jobs introducing iPod Photo and iPod U2. Video was really smooth probably a combination of 1.5mbps download plus fast processor. Not particularly caring for a black and red iPod, the iPod Photo has my interest. Imagine loading up all my cat pics onto an iPod, syncing with music, something like Jack Off Jill’s “My Cat” and outputting it to a TV. That’s even better than carrying around photos or a heavy photo album to show off pics of one’s loved ones. 60GB too, nice.

The Story I’ve Been Waiting For

From the New York Times, no not the missing explosives in Iraq story, the catblogging story. Note, once you read it, read Sisu’s post to find out who the dedicated catbloggers are. Quoting Sisu:

For fickle catbloggers like Drum, catblogging, like everything else, is all about them. True catblogging, on the contrary, is about the eternal feline.

And it’s not just on Fridays that catbloggers blog about their cats. At least the NYT did interview Lair, catblogger supreme. He has more cat pics than I have.

Another Incriminating Document

WND has found evidence of another incriminating document from the Vietnamese linking Kerry and Hanoi. Quoting:

As WorldNetDaily reported Tuesday, two documents found in a U.S. archive over the weekend provide the first concrete evidence that Vietnamese communists were directing Kerry’s antiwar group Vietnam Veterans Against the War.

One of the two documents, a “circular” captured by the U.S. in 1971 and later translated, indicates the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese delegations to the Paris peace talks that year were used as the communications link to direct the activities of Kerry and other antiwar activists who attended.

Now, a third document provides more context, showing that Kerry’s July 22, 1971, press conference calling on President Nixon to accept the seven-point plan presented by Viet Cong leader Madame Nguyen Thi Binh was perfectly aligned with Hanoi’s step-by-step agenda.

“If you look at the sequence of events, it would certainly seem Kerry was following a plan and was not just simply acting spontaneously,” said Jerome Corsi, a specialist on the Vietnam-era antiwar movement and co-author of “Unfit for Command,” the best-seller challenging Kerry’s qualification to lead the nation.

Interesting, no? I had blogged about the first two plans over at B4B but hadn’t gotten around to linking it. Point of the three documents, it proves Kerry was acting as an instrument of the enemy. Note what Kerry did after the North Vietnamese submitted a peace plan.

“When President Nixon got this peace plan, the White House didn’t know what to do,” Corsi said. “It was an entirely new initiative.”

The White House sent Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to Paris July 12, and seven days later, the South Vietnamese submitted a counterproposal to enact a total cease-fire and put the issue of reunification to a nationwide vote.

“In the middle of these intense negotiations and posturing to Madame Binh’s proposal, Kerry volunteered to hold a press conference advocating the Viet Cong leader’s position,” Corsi explained.

“He had no role to insert himself in this process,” he asserted. “Nixon and Kissinger were trying to deal with a difficult negotiating situation.”

It begs the qustion why would an American advocate for the enemy? Not that it wasn’t obvious he had his own political ambition in mind. He’d do whatever was necessary to advance his own goals. Irregardless, it would seem that working for the enemy is treasonous.

Stupid

Spent the past three days working with Stupid. She annoyed me with her blathering. Example, she acted like she knew what really happened on 9/11 and started spouting off how Bush knew in advance but did nothing. She went on to insist I see the movie. Whereupon, I pounced on the chance to debunk Michael Moore’s piece of fiction. Yes, she was taken in. Dumb.

Then she decorated the place with plastic spiders - over all the computers. Everywhere I looked, there was a spider. Think there are better things to do with one’s time than stick spiders all over.

Oh and she can’t stay awake either. That is a job requirement.

Snagging Photos

Seeing as my desktop is much bigger (1440×990) than the one on the old iBook (1024×768), I figured I needed some good wallpaper so I’ve been snagging away. I’ve even found some non-Edloe ones. Put them all in their own folder and have it set to change pics every thirty minutes. Sweet.

I was inspired by Lair’s decorating the Carnival of the Cats site with pics of Edloe.

Now I’ll have to change the default size of the pics I take so they will be bigger. First computer I’ve had with the bigger desktop and I love it.

Arafat’s Critical

I may have a winner soon in the Dead Pool. Jerusalem Post has this juicy headline.

Earlier, a PA cabinet minister told The Jerusalem Post that Yasser Arafat is in “critical condition” and doctors are trying to save his life. “President Arafat is dying,” said the minister, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Palestinian Authority announced on Wednesday night that a committee consisting of three senior officials had been established to run the affairs of the Palestinians.

Israel says it will allow Arafat to be moved “anywhere he wants” to receive medical treatment. Israel has also said that any medical equipment can be brought into Ramallah. Israel has also given Egypt permission to send a special medical team to Ramallah.

Everyone’s favorite pick too. I can hardly wait.

One Tiny Problem

That I’ve found with my new iMac is with the power cord. The tiniest jiggle of a cord, like the one to the keyboard, or slightest movement of the iMac, like swiveling the display, and the cord comes loose thus shutting it off. Very disconcerting and the first chance I get, I will have words with Apple about it.

Update: A replacement power cord is on the way.

Washing Up

This was taken after the prime rib dinner, Psycho Cat washing her boy.

Ritzi and Meowza

Its Here

Blogging from my G5. Got everything transferred from the iBook although I’m not sure what got transferred as I’m using an old desktop so that didn’t transfer. Back to Edloe. Course, thinking about it, Edloe is wide enough for the G5.

Saft restored it so I know that made it as did NetNewsWire, Firefox, Camino, Thunderbird. Ah, it didn’t overwrite iPhoto 4. That’s good. It’s updating the photo library to work with the new version.

Safe to say I’m happy.

The KLA Story Just Won’t Die

The KLA story appears to have some teeth. WND has picked it up. Some quotes:

Many liberals, particularly the Clinton administration, have openly negotiated with KLA leader Hashim Thaci, whom they have referred to as the legitimate representative of the Kosovar people.

In fact, Thaci, who goes under the nom de guerre “Snake,” attended the Democratic National Convention in Boston earlier this year. Upon returning, Thaci told the Albanian-Language Kosova Live agency, “It was a very successful visit at the Democratic Convention, where the PDK [Thaci's political party] had been invited as a guest. It was confirmed once again that the Democratic authorities would recognize and respect the will of the people of Kosova for self-determination”

At the Kerry fund-raiser, Krasniqi is seen in the documentary introducing himself and his brothers-in-arms to Gen. Wesley Clark, former Democratic presidential candidate who commanded the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.

Krasniqi says, “Mr. Clark. This is your group, your KLA.” Clark then praises the group saying, “They fought against tremendous odds.”

Mind you WND’s quotes are from the exact same source I quoted. So, either it is legit or we’re both fooled.

More On That October Surprise

Wizbang has the scoop on that aforementioned October surprise and I must say I am underwhelmed. From this article, Kerry had stated.

Thanks to some friends in New York, I was invited to come up and meet with the Security Council in the week prior to the vote, and I wanted to do that, because I valued my vote. And I wanted to know what the real readiness and willingness of our partners was to take this seriously.

So I sat with the French and British, Germans, with the entire Security Council, and we spent a couple of hours talking about what they saw as the path to a united front in order to be able to deal with Saddam Hussein.

Apparently, that might not have been true. That’s it. Story is up at the Washington Times web site. Wouldn’t have been the first time Kerry stretched the truth or the last. B.F.D.

Hat tip to Jay, via IM, who has more interesting thoughts than this story.

Prime Kitty

Dinner was prime rib and eating said prime rib around cats posed a challenge. Cutting the meat with little heads peering over the dish was somewhat difficult - this despite feeding them first. I didn’t want cat fur or teeth marks in my meat and I wanted to eat my meat. So after some fuss, pushing little mouths away, I gave up. I ate in my room behind closed doors to a chorus of meows. Naturally the only fair thing to do is to share. So instead of eating all of it, share I did. But by the time I got the camera out, they had eaten most of it. Hungry little beasties.

Carnival Of The Cats #31

It’s up, the one event in the day I’ve been waiting for - Carnival of the Cats. Nothing like a soft furry companion or eight to make one happy. And this carnival is filled chock full of kitty goodness. I’ll be cat surfing all day. Joy.

KLA For Kerry

Kerry just keeps picking up supporters. The latest, the KLA. Quoting an article by Andy Wilcoxson.

John Kerry, the Democratic presidential candidate, is being given money by an Albanian terrorist organization known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA or UCK in Albanian).

The KLA is currently smuggling weapons into Kosovo as part of a plot to attack American and other UN peacekeepers, should the UN Security Counsel refuse their demand for Kosovo’s secession from Serbia and Montenegro.

No respector of persons, he’ll accept money from terrorists, isn’t that nice. And the KLA has good friends too. Known ties to ObL, won’t have to worry about where Kerry’s alliances will be.

The KLA has been credibly linked to the notorious terrorist Osama bin Laden. In 1999 The Washington Times obtained intelligence documents that showed what is described as a ‘link’ between bin Laden, and the KLA –including a common staging area in Tropoje, Albania, a center for Islamic terrorists. The reports said bin Laden’s al-Qaeda organization has both trained and financially supported the KLA.

If that isn’t enough to warm your heart, there’s more. The KLA also has ties to Iran. Wait, the Iranians support Kerry too. From WND is this.

Pirouznia… is disclosing the details of Kerry’s financial ties to backers of the mullah government in Iran that have been seeking to moderate America’s harsh line with regard to Tehran’s nuclear aspirations.

Most prominent among them is Hassan Nemazee, 54, an investment banker based in New York who has joined the board of the American-Iranian Council, a U.S. lobbying group that consistently has supported lifting U.S. sanctions on Iran and accommodating the Tehran regime. Nemazee has raised more than $100,000 for the senator’s campaign.

Course, in all fairness, the Brits, definitely not terrorists support Kerry too. From the Guardian is this show of support.

On November 2, the entire civilised world will be praying, praying Bush loses. And Sod’s law dictates he’ll probably win, thereby disproving the existence of God once and for all. The world will endure four more years of idiocy, arrogance and unwarranted bloodshed, with no benevolent deity to watch over and save us. John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr - where are you now that we need you?

OK, they want a little more than a Kerry win, that paper is calling for Bush’s death. One does wonder about Kerry’s supporter especially the Brits. Their enthusiasm for regime change is a bit over the top. The terrorists are pretty easy to figure out. And although he may not pick who donates money to him, it is likely he will be responsive to those that support him if elected President. For more on the KLA connection, read The House Of Wheels. Fascinating stuff.

Credit goes to Jeff for the link to Wheels.

October Surprise

There appears to be a story set to break in the Washington Times tomorrow that may negatively affect the Kerry campaign. Through clever sleuthing on my part or clever blog surfing, I have found the story here I must thank Jeff for that gem and lots more and to Zygote for pointing me in the right direction. I can rest easy now knowing.

Warning: Drink alert!
