Nutball Watch

Maybe I should make this a feature. WMD has an article on everyone’s favorite nutball, the original Moonbat, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

What would you say if you heard that Christian ministers were being persuaded by Moon to take crosses down from their churches and toss them unceremoniously in dumpsters?

Moon says he got the idea for this campaign June 11, 2001, when lightning struck down the cross decorating the front of the Unification Theological Seminary. He considered this a supernatural, miraculous event. But I think he took the wrong meaning.

Instead of assuming, as I would, that God was issuing a warning about the use of the cross over Moon’s blasphemous theology school, the self-proclaimed messiah deemed this to be a sign for him to tear down all the crosses on all the churches in America.

Moon said the cross was a symbol of Satan’s victory, not God’s.

The Unification Church claims hundreds of churches around the country have, for whatever reason, bought into Moon’s undermining of Christian scripture and tradition by making the cross a symbol of Satan’s victory, not Jesus’ triumph.

Think the ACLU would love him for getting people to remove their crosses. Personally, I think it idiotic for anyone not of his faith (Unification Church), who are already Moonbats, to do anything Moon says. Irregardless of which religion one is, I think they should follow their own beliefs and not the Moonbat’s.

I will mention again for the clueless Moon is not the Messiah. Scripture tells us that after Jesus was crucified, three days after - on Easter, he was resurrected. Well, as he alone had the power, he resurrected himself. Anyway, as a resurrected being, he has a body - his own, not Moon’s, not anyone else’s. And he’ll come back here when he wants to not that he hasn’t popped in from time to time to check on things, he has. When the time is right, he will make his appearance and everyone will be able to tell it is him and not some nutcase. End of story.

Whatever Happened To Marriage

What happened to marriage as we knew it? This, quoting WND:

no-fault divorce laws now in place in all 50 states

the marriage penalty tax

the Supreme Court ruling that removed parental authority over children’s abortion decisions

the once-popular notion that men and women are really the same except for the ability to bear children

They forgot the influence of child protective services, to wit the state controls childrearing practices. Go against the state, like discipline your child, and see how fast you get them taken away. Going along with that is the notion that once a child reaches a certain age, they get to decide who they live with and under what conditions. This is especially true in cases of divorce where playing one parent against the other is an artform children develop rather quickly. Removing parental authority over childrearing makes a devastating blow to marriage. Might mention, it fits with Hillary’s “it takes a village to raise a child” approach which conveniently destroys parental authority.

The article goes on to state that when given a choice, people cohabit rather than marry and legalizing same sex marriage would suddenly make people cohabit. Like they don’t already cohabit here. Think the prevailing thought that it is ok to have sex outside marriage has done that damage, not gay people marrying. Uh, gay marriage would allow couples that cohabit cause they have no other choice to marry.

Given a preference, it is desirable to have children raised in a stable home. Marriage signals a committment to each other that enables stablilty and has been the norm for thousands of years. It also accrues certain benefits, legalwise, that cohabiting doesn’t have. So do legal unions but that is just a play on words to placate those that don’t want gays to marry. Hello, it’s the same thing and you’re not fooling anybody. So if you’re wanting gays to have legal unions, might as well go for marriage and get it over with. Let’s support marriage and maybe the institution will survive.

Might mention that marriage has been for the past 5000 years or so strictly between a man and woman/women. Prejudice against gays has been for the past 5000 years or so the norm and, guessing here, it has been this prejudice that has kept gays from being afforded the same rights. Obviously there are some religious objections and it is desirable to let religions do their thing. But there is that whole separation of church and state to consider. Maybe it is time to bury prejudice, hmm?

As to the one gay marriage that didn’t last, I just have two words… Britney Spears.

Note, I fully support marriage and disapprove of going out and having sex just for the fun of it and living together without getting married which conveniently shirks responsibility to and for each other. Whether letting gays marry will destroy marriage is disputable and the linked articles don’t prove it will. I am strictly on the fence here. I do feel that the whole gay rights thing may destroy freedom of religion which is a whole nother issue. I will most likely blog both sides on the subject and point out where I feel people are drawing the wrong conclusions and I expect people to point out where I am wrong.

Interesting Thought

Stereo cat, it’s in the comments. I can see it now…

Lair fixes up the webcam so all three cameras work to show a stereo image…

of Edloe.

I come along and all curious like go see what’s on the kitty cam. Edloe sitting on my iBook. That’s what it would look like.

Now imagine a butt shot of Edloe in stereo.

Live In The Phone

Had a lovely chat via the old fashioned route, the telephone, with Sweet n Sassy. She was most helpful especially since she has been there in more ways than one. Since all this MS stuff is still a bit new to me, I am still learning and dealing with the frustrations. What is due to the disease, what is due to the medication, which is which is something I have to learn to sort out.

I do know what I have ignored for too long. Yes, some symptoms I’ve had for some years but, as they weren’t that bad, I ignored them. Not any more. It’s bad enough to pay attention to now.

Considering we chatted for a while, we didn’t even discuss this very promising drug. Must ask my doc as I am on Lipitor already and the ABCR drugs have contraindications for me, well all but the Copaxone. Maybe all I need is a higher dose. Or maybe I will get both when I see him again and all the reports are in and everything else is ruled out so it must be MS so might be a good idea to treat it especially since it is causing some problems here. Yep, good idea.

I do hope we chat again, she was really nice. And go check out her site. She’s always got something positive and cheery, just what I needed.

Each Day A Little Worse

Numbness in places that never were numb or never that numb - bilateral too…

Trigeminal neuralgia pushing the limits of the Neurontin…

Blurry, sparkly vision returned and now affects left eye too…

Weaker walking although, using my trusty iPod, I can still walk fast…

Retaining pee…

Think the Solu-Medrol has worn off and how.

Now if the Dew would wear off, I could sleep.

Freeing The World

Quoting a few points from Bill O’Reilly’s Talking Points last Thursday that’s worth mentioning.

The foreign and defense policies of Ronald Reagan resulted in the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the freeing of approximately 122 million people in Eastern Europe.

The state of Israel would cease to exist if not for American protection, and about 5.5 million Jews would be in grave danger.

Nearly 23 million Taiwanese would be denied freedom if not for American protection. More than 48 million South Koreans would be living under a dictatorship if not for American protection. USA action led to the removal of the Serbian dictator Milosevic, who was responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of people in the Balkans.

The USA and Britain removed the Iraqi dictator Hussein, who was responsible for the murders of hundreds of thousands of people in the Middle East. And we have also removed the terrorist Taliban government in Afghanistan.

America is sending $15 billion to Africa to help victims of AIDS.  We were unable to find out how much France contributes, if anything. To be fair, Canada sends $270 million, which is substantial.

American action in Central America, Grenada, and Haiti has kept millions of people out of totalitarian regimes. Of course, all of this has cost every American taxpayer big. And thousands of American servicepeople have lost their lives protecting people overseas.

So how many people has France freed? Canada? Mexico? Anyone else match the U.S.’s record?

Waiting…

Bazel Bad Kitty

Kid needed my help folding sheets. What should have been a piece of cake turned into a challenge as Bazel kept attacking the sheets and hanging by his claws from them.

It took longer than expected cause we had to remove the kitty lest he be folded in with the sheet.

Next time, we close the door with Bazel on the other side of the door from the sheets. Note Bazel looking evil like his mommy or mean like Edloe, take your pick.
