Expensive Stuff
The main drugs used to modify the course of MS are a bit on the pricey side, info here.
The retail prices generally range from $10,000 to $14,000 a year. But what you will actually pay depends on a number of factors including your insurance plan, the pharmacy you use, and so on. See “Paying for your Disease-Modifying Drug” below.
Even better, they consider my income in determining whether, after checking out the insurance coverage, there is any aid. Most require my making less than $60,000/year and want proof via current tax return. Problem is, last one was over $60,000 and after being off for nearly three months and not being able to make as much cause of reduced overtime, will have to wait til next year to meet the qualifications. So if the insurance won’t cover it, I am kindof out of luck. Best hope would be for me to get in a drug trial, be a guinea pig, hoping I’m not in the control group. Yeah, that might work.
Still, I can begin to feel Andrew Sullivan’s pain when it comes to drug costs. No wonder he has pledge drives.
