Stem Cell Research

Alan wants Bush to reconsider his opinion on stemcell research. To wit

Your position paper states: “As a result of private research, more than 60 genetically diverse stem cell lines already exist” I have concluded that we should allow federal funds to be used for research on these existing stem cell lines ” where the life and death decision has already been made”, This allows us to explore the promise and potential of stem cell research” without crossing a fundamental moral line by providing taxpayer funding that would sanction or encourage further destruction of human embryos that have at least the potential for life.”

The embryos that could be used for research are embryos that, because they are going to be discarded anyway, don’t really have the “potential for life”, but they do have the potential to help improve peoples’ lives. These embryos fall under the definition of having the “life and death decision” already made just like the original 60 cell lines. I fail to see any difference here.

I think the concern is with the use of embryos that, once granted for any reason, allows expansion of the use of embryos for any reason. Embryos may be created only for research and the thought of destroying humans at any age for research is unappealing to many outside Nazi Germany. Now Alan mentions Nancy Reagan being pro research as a good thing but a quote from Phx News may shed some light on the feelings of the left toward a conservative coming out on behalf of stem cell research.

Here is a very realistic scenario. A republican is anti-stem cell research. Then when their mother dies of cancer. Oh, well collect the will. But when they get cancer. It’s big ole Rush Limbaugh cry baby time. Then they demand it because it’s for THEM. Republicans are the most self centered, evil, hate mongering, despicable, and malevolent aspects of humanity. They are fucks that must have resulted from rape, and should have been left in a condom. They are violent. They love guns and war and torture. They care nothing for the environment. The environment is a life they are not concerned with. You would think the lard asses selfishness would extend to wanting to save themselves from the cold dark grave that awaits upon all, ultimately. But they don’t. They are so afraid of change and so backwards in their thinking, they think it is better to let a 1 day old cell keep on reproducing and have to grow up and learn it all over again. They cannot see the forest for the trees. And, they cannot see the utility in giving an 80 year old man a new heart through stem cell research. They cannot see that we are to value age and wisdom and save the wise and the alive, those of us that are here. Don’t put all your value on a one day old cell that has not learned patience through struggle, peace during war, love despite hate. Fix what you have don’t have to keep starting over.

They don’t value the unborn, the potential for life, the humanity inherent in that embryo. Do we?

Roadkill

Regarding the title of Lair’s Edloe pics, he commented…

When she rolls over like that outside and people ask when breed she is, I say roadkill.

See, looks like she could be a mixed breed, a cross between roadkill and pillow.

roadkill

Now, normally looking at something so soft and fluffy would trigger the urge for a nap. But note, the roadkill has claws. Think I’ll go for a massage instead.

Those Pesky WMD Surfaced

But don’t expect anyone to mention that. Or ponder who is going to do what with them. Connecting the dots, Aaron asks an interesting question on why the Iraqis just may want us out sooner rather than later.

Has ANYONE mentioned the possibility that the reason the Iraqis want the US out now is that they KNOW they have WMDs and that they want them for themselves for a post-Saddam Iraq?

It’d be quite a coup for a new Iraqi government (one man, one vote, one time in the usual Islamic fashion, no doubt) to have a “surprise” for the region a few years from now.

Iraq doesn’t want to be demilitarized (neutered) as Japan and Germany were after WWII. Of course, doing that is among the many parts of a comprehensive cure for the region.

Makes you think, oh read it all. Then ponder this from Larry Elder.

Jordan recently seized 20 tons of chemicals trucked in by confessed al Qaeda members who brought the stuff in from Syria. The chemicals included VX, Sarin and 70 others. But the media seems curiously incurious about whether one could reasonably trace this stuff back to Iraq. Had the terrorists released a “toxic cloud,” Jordanian officials say 80,000 would have died!

He interviewed a terrorism expert, a brief excerpt follows.

John Loftus: There’s a lot of reason to think (the source of the chemicals) might be Iraq. We captured Iraqi members of al Qaeda, who’ve been trained in Iraq, planned for the mission in Iraq, and now they’re in Jordan with nerve gas. That’s not the kind of thing you buy in a grocery store. You have to have obtained it from someplace.

And for those that deny the possibility that the WMD are in Syria.

Loftus: A possibility? We had a Syrian journalist who defected to Paris in January. The guy is dying of cancer, and he said, “Look, my friends in Syrian intelligence told me exactly where the stuff is buried.” He named three sites in Syria, and the Israelis have confirmed the three sites. They know where the stuff is, but the problem is that the United States can’t just go around invading Arab countries… We know from Israeli and defectors’ intelligence that the son of the Syrian defense minister was paid 50 million bucks to bring the stuff across the border and bury it.

It would appear Iraq has the WMD, whether in Iraq, in Syria, or in the hands of Al Qaeda, and those that have it want to use it against us btw.

Hat tip to Lean Wright for the Elder article.

Little Change

Altered the credit at the bottomof the page to display which nightly I am using. Currently 5/10 and the 760 error appears fixed. However, trackback and pingback are still fubarred.

One thing at a time.

Mostly it works and I don’t want to go back to the older build cause that fubarred the site due to memory usage. Still deleting links to get that under control. This is more memory efficient and has some nice perks I rather like.

If you find anything that doesn’t work, let me or the WP people know. I’ll probably be updating every night til this gets fixed.

Rummy Dance

Oh just go see, it’s cute. Get down with Rummy.

Aaron doesn’t need a gun to be dangerous, just Photoshop.

Corn, Aaron brings us corn with all it’s associated symbolizm.

We know about sperm and corn.

Iranian Nukes and Israel

Seems the pro Iranian people don’t want Israel to wipe out their nuclear facilities. Mind you the threat of Iran making nuclear bombs is a real one. The threat of them using them against Israel is not only a distinct possibility, it is somewhere in the realm of 100% probablility. Remember, the goal of ALL Arab states is the utter destruction of Israel. Quoting the mail that crossed my inbox.

Red Alert: In recent days several articles have surfaced regarding the possibility of Israeli missile strikes on Iranian Nuclear facilities. We know that many of you who receive these news updates are pro-Iranian freedom however we have noticed that many conservative leaning Americans who support Iranian freedom have unfortunately also voiced approval and support of Israeli military assaults on the clerical regime’s facilities. We must tell you that this is a very dangerous point of view and if you truly want to stand up for the United States and defend freedom both in the Middle East and here at home, you must be against any and all strikes on Iranian soil.

We will not bore you with the plethora of reasons why military strikes are counterproductive, but we must say that if there is one thing the Mullahs in Iran want, it is a military strike on Iranian soil. The United States already has the support of the Iranian people - a military attack on Iran could have the devastating consequences of turning many Iranians against the United States and stir up Iranian Nationalism (In support of a regime they currently despise) - Nationalism which is now very anti-Mullah and pro-US. In almost every possible scenario that can be thought through - any event that begins with military assaults on Iran is likely to lead to a situation in which the Mullahs are strengthened, more regional wars breaks out, thousands upon thousands of Iranians if not millions will be killed, and the prospects for peace and freedom will undoubtedly fall to the deepest depths and will be unattainable for many decades to come.

Please, if you support freedom in the Middle East and continue leadership and strength of the United States you must adamantly oppose Israeli Military strikes on Iranian soil - because the simple fact remains that no matter how some pundits criticize and characterize the United States/freedom’s current predicament, America and all people in the world who demand freedom are in fact in a good position and have the cards stacked in our favor - we mustn’t waste this opportunity. Remember: Regime change is the objective - but there are countless ways to go about this other than through the most devastating and counterproductive method of military assaults, which would result neither in regime-change nor anything the United States would be the least bit favorable of.

Remember, Israel already took out an Iraqi nuclear facility without so much as a global thermonuclear war resulting. I can see the Iranians desire to keep their nukes. After all even freedom loving/mad Mullah hating Iranians want to destroy Israel. Not bombing the plant for the reasons they state won’t change their desires to wipe Israel off the map. Nukes in the hands of any Islamic country are a danger to Israel’s survival. I expect Israel is capable of destroying the facilities before they become operative thus minimizing any radiation and loss of life to the people of Iran. I fully support Israel’s efforts to defend itself from total anniliation. Go IDF.

Disconnected

With the people according to Blogs for Bush. At least, from the accounts, Kerry didn’t shine in the land of the sun. Fell flatter than a pancake.

Ignoring the crowd of supporters isn’t the prudent thing to do. Giving a speech so boring no one discusses it after isn’t too swift either not that we Bush supporters don’t mind. We don’t.

What? Did the doc miss his face and inject the botox into his brain?

Anybody but Bush seems to be all they can muster. Hey, Bush has charisma, heart, humor. It’s obvious he’s human.

Gotta wonder about Kerry.
