Jay, who is celebrating today, pointed me to this entry at Obsidian Wings regarding a case of a blogger acting like a spoiled brat over getting his facts wrong. If one quotes reliable sources, hopefully one won’t get their facts wrong. Of course, sometimes that is unavoidable, case in point intelligence gathered prior to going to war with Iraq proved to be less than reliable. Bloggers do have the unique ability to correct their posts. and rather quickly too.
If one is to get any respect in and for the blogosphere, it behooves one to correct their mistakes. And if one is blogging for a specific cause, being reasonable is a virtue, more likely to get taken seriously.
Now, blocking respected bloggers is just plain stupid. Blocking obvious spam which no one likes makes sense. I don’t have the problem of having hundreds of comments per post, but I do use comment throttling and WP Blacklist. I don’t like spam. Trolls are another issue, don’t have many, best not to feed the trolls and they will likely go away.
Note, I haven’t read the referenced post at LGF just commenting on blogging behavior in general.
