One Fine Jay tackles web design, appropriate as he has added some spiffy skins in the past few days. Apparently there is some discussion over at Matt’s over a blogger who has a gallery of allegedly well designed blogs, said well design tag purely subjective on the part of who is surfing them. I found some boring and, yes, some squished. What with most computer displays being at least 1024×768, including my little iBook, no reason to design a site where the meat of the site (the blog entries) are squished into 400 or so pixels wide with a bunch of dead space to the right. Would be better if it had a yummy pic of Angelina filling up the dead space.
I have it set so my blog entry is variable width so there is esentially no dead space that doesn’t have something yummy in it, example being my Lady Croft skin.
My favorite for yummy was Jewdez’s Marky Mark skin (currently out of circulation but can still see thumbnail at BlogMoxie). I do have a selection of eyecandy, said sites having one or more skins that I like. Maybe I should make thumbnails of my favorite skins. Ah, BlogMoxie has most of them, go there. Note, some have zonk boards and other stuff I don’t care for but are still yummy. A.J., Spike, Marky, yum. Ok, safe to say, my idea of pretty sites is rather subjective. Pay no attention to my preferences.
